Daves Poems 2010

Part 1 of  3

My poems written in 2010 - January to April

The Ability
Everybody has the ability
To learn more throughout their life
Even if they are single, have children,
A husband or a wife

Your mind is there for filling
A centre of lifelong learning
No matter if you're unemployed
Or if you have started earning

Everybody has the ability
Planted deep within
But it sometimes takes a tragedy
For your mind to start to kick in

Everybody can learn more
Sometimes you need to look
When you feel you're ready
Take that learning hook

The chance is there for everyone
To search for your inner soul
You will only get out what you put in
To get to your personal goal

Steve James

This week the Lord has dealt his cards
And done something we can't believe
He's needed some great helpers now
So he's decided to take Steve.

To others Steve could look intimidating
Because he was such a big bloke
But he liked to mickey take
And have a laugh and joke.

As kids we would play many games
Cricket, Football , Fox and Hounds
We'd play for many hours outside
Hiding up trees and on the ground.

In Tynte we were a close community
So his loss is really bad
Because Steve was a family man
And also a loving dad.

Throughout our life, we'll meet thousands
Some you'll like and Some you'll hate
But I am glad to have known Steve well
And to have called him a Mate.

So today we'll come together now
To pay respects beside family and friends
Because Steve is a person in our hearts
Which is with us ‘til our life ends.

In loving memory of Steve James
RIP Jamesy

Like Footprints in the Sand

When a life has been taken away,
We are all in pastures green,
For the deceased is now at peace,
For the living, it seems so mean.

When a loved one's life is over,
And by whatever means they passed,
The void that has been left in life,
To you is very vast.

To enable us to deal with this,
Family and friends will join in hands,
To imprint that love which is now lost,
Like footprints in the sand.

Although this is a sad time now,
Some smile with joy and don't look sad,
As they reach into their memories,
To recall the good times had.

So with the help of those around you,
In this time, you need to grieve,
You will hear some wonderful stories and tales,
Of the loved one who had to leave.

As Tears Brew

As tears brew,
Because of grief,
And a broken heart,
Lays deep beneath.

A glancing smile,
But full of sorrow,
There's hurt today,
Which will be there tomorrow.

The loss of one,
Who has been so close,
The sudden shock,
Which will break most!

As tears break,
The swelling eye,
One question asked,
Why did they die?

The bitter hurt,
Will never go,
And the feeling of loss,
Will forever grow !

Wales in spring

I live in a lovely place
It is called as South Wales
The valleys full of green mountains
With rivers down through the vales

The mountains are very steep
With houses up on the hills
Some of them have front gardens
Full of plants and daffodils

The welsh are known for choirs
Many times, they used to sing
But there isn't anything better now
As the flowers blossom in the spring

In march the weather changes
When the days start to become sunny
You start to see newborn animals
Like lambs and little bunnies

But due to all the high mountains
And some of the wild terrains
Wales has lots of bad weather
Especially when it rains

As I look down the valley

As I look down the valley
I see the snow capped valley
Residue of yesterday
But now the weathers' still

Clouds over the blue sky
Could it be snow or rain?
If they break, we will soon know
When the ground becomes white again

The sun is shining brightly
Although today, it is very low
The heat just warms the chill away
And gives that yellow glow

The mountain looks so barren
Trees and ferns in autumn brown
But it's nice to look down the valley
And see the snow upon the ground

Tears like a river

Like a river
Your tears will flow
at Special times
And on an Anniversary.

It starts light
just like a river
And ends up
like a deep sea.

Your head is full
of so many memories
which are fighting
To come back out.

And at these sad times
Each and Every year
they will help you through
Without a doubt.

Your tears
Are like a river
And it is hard
To hold them back.

So let them flow
And release your tears
For loved ones passed
Who are always near.

This extra sight

Enhance your mind into believing
What you cannot physically see
Then your spiritual side will start working
To prove we live into eternity

You will know about conditions
And circumstances how someone passed
But you need to concentrate fully
Because the connection does not last

The mind is very complex
And you will disregard a lot
But until you get confirmation
You may not understand what you got

It takes a bit of time learning
You cannot know everything overnight
Be patient and keep in control
Whilst you use this extra sight

When things are nice and quiet

When things are nice and quiet
I hear people in my head
They want to pass on messages
From loved ones, who are now dead

They may not say what we want
But give a message just to show
That they will be waiting for you
When it is your time to go

Sometimes they will show us pictures
Or a clip like a video scene
To emphasise a fact of life
Where you going or where you've been

They will give us information
Like a date, a month or name
And we will need to ask them questions
In our mind, just like a game

Sometimes we will misinterpret
And others will be precise
But whatever the message
For the sitter, it is nice

It is up to an individual
If they want to believe or not
But be respectful to the mediums
For sharing the gifts they have got

A vivid dream

In my dreams, I think I am crazy
Because I look as though I am sad
But inside, I am really happy
In the dream, I am with my dad

When i look ahead and see nothing
Except the brightest light
I know why i am happy now
Because I am using my extra sight

The spirit world works wonders
They will often send a sign
You feel someone is watching you
But nobody is in front or behind

On times, you will have a vivid dream
And it is intended just for you
You may not understand it now
But it doesn't mean it's not true

  2010 Poems

I have written 333 poems between

2003 and the end of 2009.

I have published my own book called

" BEYOND THE VALLEY "

which is now available from the Lulu.com website.

Hope you enjoy reading my poems.

Regards

Dave Boyce

Proud to be called a "Taffy"

From the mountains to the river bed
From the mountains to the coast
With the rugged beautiful scenery
Is why I love the valleys most

From the Beacons to Cardiff
And along the River Taf
Is a breed of loving people
Who could always make you laugh

For the valley folk are special
Full of pride and dignity
Who are proud to be called a "Taffy"
From birth to eternity

We have our own accent
Here in the valleys and the vales
But although we don't speak fluent Welsh
We are proud to be from the valleys of South Wales

To give the world another life

Why do some people feel ashamed?
Because they are with child
So many girls get pregnant young
These days it's classed as mild

In years gone by it was frowned up on
To have a child outside wedlock
But today many don't get married
And it's no longer such a shock

Don't think that it is shameful
Because it's just natural to conceive
Many children born of old had no dad
When they would get up and leave

So if you find you're pregnant and sad
Because you're single and not a wife
Think of this as a blessing now
To give the world another life

The Valley hills

The evergreen, the ivy
The catkins and daffodils
Just some of the springtime things
Found in the valleys hills

The rugged mountaintop
Against the blue skyline
Old quarry on the mountainside
From the mists of time

Brown heather and the yellow grass
The boulders and the gorse
Wild birds feeding freely
Beside the sheep and the horse

The colours look so sorry
All dappled green and brown
Ready for the regrowth
Once the weather settles down

To pass heaven's gate

Goodbye my love
I have been released
From this earthly life
Which was like a beast

My sorrow widened
As my illness grew
But what never changed
Was my love for you

In eternity
My life will grow
Because my love for you
Nobody else will know

Although in life
My body has gone
Our memories together
Will still move on

Be brave my love
Until you realise
My soul continues on
As my body dies

Just smile for me
Because I will wait
When it is your time
To pass heaven's gate

Troubled Times

When I go through troubled times
I will talk as if you are still here
Because I feel you are around for me
Just like when you were

I know others cannot hear you
But I can, in thought not voice
I know you will still guide me
So that I can make that right choice

In times of sadness and of sorrow
I know that you are watching over me
Because I know, you care for us
Like it always used to be

I talked about you many times
To keep the memories so strong
Because I have missed you very much
In the years that you've been gone

Since that day

I yearn to see your smiling face
And to hear that chuckle laugh
I yearn to hear your voice again
Even you singing in the bath

Today your words are silent
Except in our memories still
Because it's been some time now
Since that day you had to leave in April

I yearn to hear you shout at me
Whether it be good or bad
Because I miss to hear your voice
And today, I still feel sad

Since you have been gone

It has been 7 years now
Since you have been gone
But my memories of you
Are still so strong.

You left this earth so ill
But still full of love
It's 7 long years now
You have been above.

When I think of you
I start to feel so sad
Until I remember the laughs
I had with my dad.

They say time heals
But it never cures
After 7 years gone
I am still unsure.

One thing's for certain
On my chosen date
We will meet again
At heaven's gate.

So to my Dad
The one we will always love
Like everyday gone
I send my thoughts above

In Loving memory of my Dad Frederick James Boyce.
Who sadly passed away on 13th April 2003.

If I don't wake up in the morning

If I don't wake up in the morning
It is the small things you will miss
Like waking up and seeing me
With an early morning kiss

If I don't wake up in the morning
Small things will remind you of me
Like the cup that is on the holder, still
And the way I liked my tea

If I don't wake up in the morning
You may cry when you hear a song
Just smile and think of good times had
To help you get along

If I don't wake up in the morning
Your life must carry on
I know you will always love me
No matter how much time has gone

If I don't wake up in the morning
My spiritual life will start
And your soul will have a void within
For the time we are apart

Springtime

As I listen, I hear the birds sing
On an early morn
As the light starts breaking through
When the night turns into dawn

The clinking sound of milk bottles
As the milkman does his round
The smell of fresh still air
Where the mist rises off the ground

The weather still unsettled
With some clouds just floating by
A light cloud went blowing freely
Across the springtime sky

The flowers start to break the soil
As the process now begins
The land will look so colourful
When we start to leave the spring

Waiting for a train to come

Waiting for a train to come
Is like watching paint dry
You look at things around you
And what's up in the sky

You notice little things
Some that are amiss
It saves your mind from wandering
And looking into the abyss

Whilst you're on the platform
You notice the paving cracks
And the shining railhead
On the nearby tracks

Waiting for a train to come
At the crack of dawn
Is sometimes really quiet
Before a busy morn
